Cydney Grannan (she/they)

I'm currently an MA student at the University of Minnesota's Hubbard School of Journalism & Mass Communication. My research interests revolve around journalism studies and political communication, including journalists' sourcing practices, the public's relationship with news, and how technology impacts news media and political communication. 

My thesis project (in progress) focuses on an emerging practice in U.S. newsrooms: source tracking, or the approach where journalists or news organizations systematically collect and analyze characteristics of quoted sources. 

Before attending graduate school, I was a journalist, most recently working as a producer at WAMU 88.5 in Washington, D.C.
